Responce to a Quote

In "A Reunion with Boredom" Charles Simic reals the audience in with this question, "Do people still suffer from periods of boredom even with computers, smart phones, and tablets to occupy them endlessly?" (2014, p. 374)  In his blog he talks about what it was like with out access to the internet and how boring it was for him with out that technology.  This question did have me reflect on my time usage and also looking at how other teens beside myself, act when having no internet. When I grew up, my mom always encouraged me to go outside as much as possible, every day. I had to even out the time I had online with time outside. And as I got older, if the power went out, I would simply find a book to read, or do hobbies, or explore outside. In  recent years when I got an account on a site called "Myyearbook," Mostly all the posts in the live feed, were different variations of "I'm bored." So I do believe the answer to that question is yes. But it does not make sense to me, because I learned how to avoid boredom by doing non internet like things.
